Donna Jean Griffin

Donna Jean Griffin, age 72, of Hazlehurst passed away on March 1, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Donna was born in Alma, GA to Mr. Frank Smith Jr. and Mrs. Betty Jean Mixon. She was a homemaker and she loved reading Romantic novels. She was known to be a great cook and she loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She enjoyed watching soap operas with her mama and enjoyed being at the Griffin retirement home. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Smith Jr., husband, Roger Griffin, brothers, Danny Smith, Tony Smith, Paul Smith, Ronnie Smith.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Jean Mixon Smith, sons Corey Griffin (Carolyn) of Baxley, Rickey Griffin (Liz) of Hazlehurst, brothers, Glenn Smith (Pam) of Mt. Vernon, Gary Smith of Lumber City, sisters Janet Burkett (Johnny) of Lumber City, Vickie Murray (Kenneth) of North Carolina, grandchildren, Heather, Megan, Kevin, Chelsea, Chavis, Cherish, great grandchildren, Jacie, Emma, Anna Kate, Mackenzie, Reece, Ella and one great-great grandchild on the way.  

Services for Mrs. Griffin will be held at Wainright-Parlor Chapel on the date of March 4, 2024, beginning at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM until service hour. Interment will follow at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Thomas Colter, Rev. Randy Manning, and Rev. Rick Brown will officiate.

Kevin Griffin, Chavis Griffin, Shawn Smith, Craig Smith, Tommy William, and Shane Smith will serve as pall bearers.

All family and friends will serve as honorary pall bearers.

Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
