Genethel (Toler) Dukes

Ms. Genethel Toler Dukes, age 87, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, and she loved her Lord Jesus. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church for over 40 years. She enjoyed being outside working on all her flowers and gardening.

Ms. Dukes was born on April 18, 1936, in Jeff Davis County.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Hattie Toler, her beloved husband, I.L. Dukes, her daughter, Marie Taylor, her grandsons, James White and Charlie Dukes, her sisters, Mary Cothren, Gurtis Conley, Carnell Bush, her brothers, Doc Toler, Bill Toler, Lenard Toler and George Toler.

Survivors include her four sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron Dukes (Tammy), Silas Dukes (Sheila), Charles Dukes (Sandra) and Bobby Dukes (Pam), all of Hazlehurst; sister, Josephine Groover; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren also survive.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 02, 2024, at Bible Baptist Church, visitation will begin at 10:00am and the funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Manford Gilbert officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.

Daniel Dukes, Tyler Dukes, Lee Dukes, Billy Dukes, Gage Dukes and Sam Dukes will serve as active pallbearers.

Musical selections will be rendered by Mike and Pat Tippett.
