Jane Elder Obituary

Mrs. Jane Lindauer Elder, age 76, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at her home.

Mrs. Elder was born on March 09, 1947, in Belleville Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Ruth Shiver Lindauer and brother, Jack Lindauer.

Mrs. Jane was certainly a true Classy Southern Lady; she loved life, lived it to the fullest and loved her Sweet Tea. She was a kind, sweet, gentle spirit, was an avid reader and had a great sense of humor. She was adventurous, she loved to travel, she and Mr. Buck literally saw the World, and loved every minute of it. She was a devoted Christian lady to her husband, family, close circle of friends, to all her students she taught (for over 40 years), and to her Lord and church, Hazlehurst First Methodist.

She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, she will truly be missed.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Buck Elder of Hazlehurst, daughter,  Jennifer Hufford (Peter Smith), grandson, Cole Hufford of Carmel, Indiana; son, Jonathan Elder (Erin),  grandchildren, Rosemary and Beau Elder of Brooklyn, New York; sister, Rosemary Brannen (Bill) of Valdosta.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 04, 2024, at 2:30pm at Hazlehurst First Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Gale and Rev. Steven Riddle officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the service.

Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.

The Women of the Ladies' Circles will serve as honorary pallbearers.

E.M. Wilkes, Jack Cole, Phil Merritt, Jimmy Maley, Drew Wilkes, and Vince Harrison will serve as active pallbearers.
