Mr. Alton Kersey, age 78, of Hazlehurst, died Monday, February 18, 2019 at Jeff Davis Hospital. Mr. Kersey was born February 18, 1941 in Jeff Davis County to the late Elige Kersey and the late Katie Merchant Kersey. He was retired from Hazlehurst Mills and a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Carol Waters Kersey. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mark Carter of Hazlehurst; brother, Wendell Branch (Elouise) of Reidsville; granddaughter, Molly Carter and grandson, Mark Carter; several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation and funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home, visitation will begin at 10:00am and funeral will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Keith Yawn officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery The family may be contacted at the Carter residence, 17 Chestnut Road, Hazlehurst.
