Ava Lucille Carter, age 95, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, September 02, 2015, at Genesis Hazlehurst Center. Mrs. Carter was born January 05, 1920 in Irwin County to the late Benjamin Franklin Newham and the late Janie Cooper Newham. She has resided most of her life in Jeff Davis County, was a retired Seamstress with Sanmark-Stardust and a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her Sisters, Eva Trowell, Pearl Blalock, Mary Clance, Martha Johns and Willie Mae Moye and Brother, George W. Newham. Survivors include two Daughters and Sons-in-Laws, Lurece and Duke Campbell of Hazlehurst and Linda and Colon Sammons of Mt. Vernon; Son and Daughter-in-Law, Cadle Kermit and Sandra Carter of Hazlehurst; Eleven Grandchildren, Twenty Three Great-Grandchildren and One Great-Great Grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 05, 2015 at 2:00pm at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Yawn officiating. Interment will follow in the Satilla Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Carter will lie in state one hour prior to service time. The family may be contacted at Duke and Lurece Campbell's residence, 120 Campbell Road, Hazlehurst. Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Ava Lucille Carter, age 95, of Hazlehurst.
