Mr. Billy Joe Medders Jr., age 64, of Hazlehurst, died Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at his residence.
Mr. Medders was born July 25, 1958, in Ware County, and is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe Medders Sr. and Gwendolyn Chaney Morris, and sister, Deborah Taylor. He was formerly employed with Howard Graham Logging.
Billy Joe always had a strong work ethic, but in his spare time, he was quite the outdoorsman, he really enjoyed fishing and piddling.
He had a sweet, and humble disposition, and his mannerism was always pleasant, and he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Lee Beans Medders of Hazlehurst, daughters, Tina Renee Pompa (Jorge) of Lizella, and Jennifer Wood (Chris) of Hazlehurst, step-daughter, April McDonald of Hazlehurst; son, Zackary Medders of Hazlehurst and step-son, Michael Ellis (Helena Wells) of Hazlehurst;
sister, Rose Steverson of Hazlehurst; brothers, David Medders (Jan) of Hazlehurst, Charlie Medders (Angel) of Hazlehurst, and Leonard Medders (Donna) of Hazlehurst; 5 grandchildren, Chelsey Waters, Hunter Crabb, Jose Torres, Jasmine Torres, and Caitlyn Via; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Waters, Harper Waters, and Bradley Waters.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home, visitation to begin at 1:00 pm and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Joe Chancey and Rev. Joey Chancey officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Justin Waters, Victor Cooper, Tyler Steverson, Gregory Taylor, Nathan Spivey, and Dennis Yawn.
The Medders Family and Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to continue to follow social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
