Brookie Carter, age 56, of Hazlehurst, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Carter was born February 16, 1962 in Appling County to the late Earl Carter and the late Leona Newsome Carter. He was a Truck Driver with Williams Brothers Trucking and member of the Church of God. He is preceded in death by step-daughter, Sabrina Deloach and granddaughter, Katlyn Carter. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Rewis Carter of Hazlehurst; daughters, Tina M. Carter, Sharie Carter, Rebecca Ann Carter, Zoey N. Carter and Kaylie Carter all of Hazlehurst; sons, Tyler Carter, Bradley Carter, Lamar Carter, Desmond Lamar, Caleb Carter and Blake Carter all of Hazlehurst; sisters, Becky Johnson of Florida, Cathy Knight of Baxley and Wynette Tomberlin of Douglas; brothers, Danny Carter (Sheila) of Hazlehurst and Ronnie Tomberlin of Douglas; brothers-in-law, Bobby Rewis (Katie) of TX and Danny Rewis (Sue) of Guyton; sister-in-law, Gail Fogle (Robby) of Hardeeville, S.C.; several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 3:00pm at Grace Community Church of God with Rev. Dewayne Joiner and Rev. Nathan Greer officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Carter will lie in State one hour prior to service.
