King

Mr. Charles Kendall "Ken" King, age 85, of Denton, died Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Jeff Davis Hospital.
He was born on July 8, 1939 in Snipesville to the late Charlie and Leontine Spivey King. After high school, he joined the United States Army. He then attended South Georgia College where he received an Associate of Science in Business, and then earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Georgia Southern University. He moved to Atlanta to attend Emory Night School-Woodrow Wilson College of Law where he graduated with his Jurius Doctorate Degree in Law. Ken lived and worked in Atlanta for 50 years before moving to Byron, GA where he was the pastor of Jacob's Well Ministries in Byron. After living in Byron for 13 years, he moved back home to Snipesville in 2019.
Ken had a heart for helping others, volunteering his time in state and federal prison ministry when he lived in Atlanta. He was an ordained Baptist minister and served as chaplain at several jails and hospitals. He was always looking for someone to witness to. He was a supporter of Safe Harbor Ministries of Brunswick. He was also a former counselor at Outback Serenity Center in Hazlehurst and Still Waters Outreach in Douglas, and the Jeff Davis Representative for the Heart of Georgia Area Agency on Aging. He and a law associate started a company to inform large company owned businesses how to conform to OSHA regulations. He traveled and taught this course for two years. When Ken was not giving his time to help others, he enjoyed riding his Polaris to the river, watching car races, reading, and cooking.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara King.
Ken's loved ones include his wife, Jimmie Nell Tate of Snipesville; his daughters, Donna Medders (Leonard) of Hazlehurst, and Kimberly King (Matthew) of New Hampshire; his brother, Tony King of Baxley; his grandchildren, Kadie Robbins (Levi) of Snipesville, Adam King of Hazlehurst, Macie King, and Keaton King, both of New Hampshire; and his great-grandchildren, Payten Warnock and Bentley Robbins, both of Snipesville.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Hazlehurst Church of God. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M. with James Smith officiating and Billy Sellers and Beth King providing eulogies.
