Mrs. Christine Atkinson, age 83, of Hazlehurst passed away Saturday, June 23rd after an extended illness. Mrs. Atkinson, the daughter of the late Ben Allen Thompson and Cora Parkerson Thompson, was a native of Coffee County, having resided in Jeff Davis County most of her life. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by sons, Thomas, Jimmy, and William Atkinson, and grandson, Jimmy Atkinson, Jr. Survivors include her husband, Chapman Atkinson of Hazlehurst; daughter, Karen Dean of Rossville; son, Raymond Atkinson of Hazlehurst; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grands. The family may be contacted at the family residence at 1191 Alma Hwy., Hazlehurst. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning, June 26th, from 10:00 till 10:45 at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m., June 26, 2018 in the Satilla Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
