Dave Smith, age 66, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, January 09, 2019 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. Mr. Smith was born June 14, 1952 in Jeff Davis County to the late Lowell Davis Smith Sr. and the late Tommie Ruth Harrell Simmons. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and the former owner and operator of Hazlehurst Flower Shop. He was a member of Elbethel Church and is preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Jones Smith and step-father Herbert Simmons. Survivors include three daughters, Carmen (Ben) Leggett of Hazlehurst, Monica (Travis) Housley of Blackshear and Regina Hughes of Hazlehurst; son, Brian (Lori) Sapp of Hazlehurst;seven grandchildren, Logan Leggett, Caleb Leggett, Sunni Housley, Harper Housley, Kyler Sapp, Ashley Hughes and Nate Hughes; several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home, visitation will begin at 10:00am and funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Jerry McKinnon officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
