Mr. David Hughes, age 57, of Hazlehurst, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. Mr. Hughes was born December 03, 1956 in Jeff Davis County to the late Mr. Bennie Telfair Hughes and the late Ruthie Mae Mincey Hughes. He was a lifelong resident of Hazlehurst, retired Street & Sanitation Supervisor, retired Fireman with the City of Hazlehurst, and a member of Bible Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hughes. Mr. Hughes was survived by Three Daughters, Melissa Rentz of Graham, Christy Whitley of Alma and Debra Ann Hughes of Baxley; Three Sons, Eric Hughes of Jacksonville, FL, Devin Hughes and Derek Hughes both of Hazlehurst; Three Sisters, Becky Parlor of Hazlehurst, Barbara Ann Pearce of Baxley and Loney Mae Rentz of Graham; Three Brothers, Earl Hughes and Dearl Hughes both of Hazlehurst and Billy Hughes of Dublin; Ten Grandchildren, Four Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00-2:00 pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Manford Gilbert, Rev. Alvin Stanley and Rev. Brian Patrick officiating. Interment will follow in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
