Debra Joyce Burgess, age 59, of Hazlehurst, died January 26, 2014 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Mrs. Burgess was born October 3, 1954 in Augusta to the late Jack Marvin Messex and the late Joyce Fields Messex. She was a Seamstress and member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Knies and brother, Marvin Messex. Survivors include her husband, Vic Burgess of Hazlehurst; Two daughters, Christy Varnadoe of Hazlehurst and Tori Barkley of Ocalla, FL.; Two sons, Chris Hadden of Lyons and Michael Hadden of Hazlehurst; Sister, Tammy Brantley of Vidalia; Brother, Thomas (Cathy) Messex of Oak Park; Seven Grandchildren, Tyler Hadden, Jarrod Barkley, Brooke Hadden, Lauryn Barkley, Carter Barkley, Caden Hadden and Ava Grace Hadden. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Clin Hutcheson officiating.
