Mr. Donnie Quitman Batten, age 78, of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Lumber City Nursing Home. Mr. Batten was born January 25, 1940, in Coffee County to the late Quitman Batten and the late Shella Mae Wood Batten. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, retired Farmer and a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Batten. Survivors include his wife, Mary Hutcheson Batten of Hazlehurst; three sons, Eugene Batten (Betty) of Hazlehurst, Greg Batten (Marlene) of Hazlehurst and Sammie Batten (Diane) of Hazlehurst; two sisters, JoAnn Trowell (Larry) of Hazlehurst and Debbie May (Greg) of Eufaula, AL; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Elizabeth Baptist Church, visitation will begin at 2:00pm and funeral service will follow at 3:00pm with Rev. Keith Yawn officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery. The family can be contacted at the Batten residence, 418 Cotton Patch Road, Hazlehurst.
