Ms. Dorothy Elizabeth Purvis, age 90, of Hazlehurst, died Monday, May 08, 2023, in Memorial Hospital in Savannah.

Ms. Purvis was born July 21, 1932, in Appling County.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Evan C. Yawn and Ava Sapp Yawn, and her husband, Lamar Purvis.

Ms. Dorothy was a ray of sunshine when she walked into the room, she enjoyed fellowshipping with people, and always had a sweet smile to give. She loved spending time in her garden tending to her flowers. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed their many visits together. She was an awesome, homemaker, and cook, and was a member of the Altamaha Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Alisa (Kenny) Jones of Hazlehurst; son, Garry (Nan) Purvis of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Heather (Robert) McGraw, Chesley (Whitley) Taylor, Joey Purvis, Kendall (Tess) Jones, Blake (Sara Emily) Jones, Blair and Matt Sears, great-grandchildren, Layne Taylor, Natalie Taylor, McKinley Taylor, Madison Jones, Jase Jones, Layne Riley, Brody Riley, Ava Leigh Sears, and Asher Jones.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Oak View Cemetery with Rev. Keith Yawn officiating and Mr. Jimmie Ryles and his friends providing the musical selections.

The family may be contacted at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Alisa and Kenny Jones, 30 Maplewood Road, Hazlehurst.
