Dr. Robert E. Elton, age 87, of Hazlehurst, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his residence. Dr. Elton was born July 13, 1929 in Telfair County to the late James Ollis Elton and the late Lola Georgia Kelly Elton. He was an Optometrist and had an office in Hazlehurst for many years and a member of Hazlehurst Progressive Primitive Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Clark Byrer, sister, Ruby Jean Elton Stokes, and brothers, William Ollis Elton and Cecil Clarence Elton. Survivors include his wife, Ada Collins Elton of Hazlehurst; four daughters, Margaret Elton McKinney (David) of Evans, Nancy Elton Nix (Wayne) of Richmond Hill, Gina Elton Morris (Jimmy) of Hazlehurst and Dorothy Elton Byrer of Phoenix City AL.; one son, Thomas Lee Elton (Wanda) of Cleveland TN; brother, John Kelly Elton (Saralynn) of Albany; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and multitude of nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00am in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery with Rev. Doug Weisel officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday also begining at 1:30pm in the First United Methodist Church Social Hall. Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Dr. Robert E.
