Mr. Edgar Floyd Simmons, age 92, of Hazlehurst, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at Jeff Davis Hospital. Mr. Simmons was born July 23, 1925 in Jeff Davis County to the late George Quitman Simmons and the late Ophelia Ellis Simmons. He was retired from Hazlehurst Mills and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Vi Simmons and son, Joey Simmons. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Susan Simmons of N. Augusta, S.C.; granddaughter, Shelby Simmons of N. Augusta, S.C. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 2:00pm at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jeffery Spell and Rev. Deek Dubberly officiating. Interment will follow in the Bridgeford Church of God Cemetery. Mr. Simmons will lie in state one hour prior to service. Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Edgar Simmons, age 92, of Hazlehurst.
