Mr. Frank (Smitty) Smith Jr., age 87, of Lumber City, died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Lumber City Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Smith was born January 21, 1930 in Appling County to the late B. Franklin Smith and the late Annie Bell Tyre Smith. He was a retired Truck Driver previously employed by P.F. Smith Trucking. He is preceded in death by three sons, Danny Smith, Tony Smith and Paul Smith. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Mixon Smith of Lumber City; daughters, Donna Jean Griffin of Hazlehurst, Vickie Ann Murray (Kenneth) of North Carolina, and Janet Lynn Burkett (Johnny) of Lumber City; sons, Ronnie Smith of Hazlehurst, Glenn M. Smith (Pam) of Mt Vernon, and Gary Smith of Lumber City; twenty grandchildren, thirty nine great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 3:00pm at Hazlehurst Pentecostal Church with Rev. Thomas Colter officiating. Interment will follow in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Smith will lie in state one hour prior to service. The family may be contacted at the residence of Janet and Johnny Burkett, 18 Erie Street, Lumber City.
