Ira G. Mathis, age 89, of Hazlehurst, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Lumber City Nursing Home. Mr. Mathis was born July 02, 2016 in Amory, Mississippi to the late Ed Mathis and the late Mary Mathis. He was retired from Hazlehurst Mills and Walmart. Mr. Mathis is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Watson Mathis and son, Larry Mathis. Survivors include his Son, Steve Mathis of Hazlehurst; Daughter, Pat Mathis of Hazlehurst; Grandson, Nyle Mathis Ursrey of Hazlehurst; Granddaughters, Sara Ursrey, Angie Taylor and Tonya Stone; Great-Grandchildren, Blayne and Evan Ursrey, Cassanda Dukes and Ty Taylor, Andria and Brandon Stone; Great-Great-Granddaughter, Zaylee Dukes; several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Alamo City Cemetery.
