Mr. Jack Carrol Smith, age 69, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, November 08, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Smith was born November 30, 1953 in Jeff Davis County.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Odis Carrol Smith and Marjorie Mullis Smith, sister, Marlene Smith Strickland.

He was a retired Millwright worker and a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jack was a Giant-Simple Man, he loved life and lived it to the fullest.

He enjoyed going to the Mountains and going to the Beach, his family said he was well rounded.  He was Mr. Outdoorsman, he enjoyed being outside, fishing and hunting.

He loved his family, he was a great husband, great dad, and a great papa Jack,  and  he took those roles of life very seriously.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Luke Smith of Hazlehurst; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jamie Carrol and Kylie Rowland Smith of Hazlehurst and Jeffrey Christopher and Rachel Bailey Smith of Portal; brother, Odis Buddy  (Brenda) Smith of Hazlehurst; sister, Carlene Smith (Edward) Gauler of Hazlehurst; five grandchildren, Maggie Smith, Jarrett Smith, Ashtyn Johnson, Allie Johnson and Isabella Smith; one great-granddaughter, Taelyn Hobbs Johnson; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery at 2:00pm with Mr. Robert Charles "Pete" Samples officiating.

All family and friends in attendance will serve as honorary pallbearers.
