James Googe, age 77, of Hazlehurst, died Friday, December 20, 2013 at Jeff Davis Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Googe was born February 2, 1936 in Appling County to the late Jerry Oneal Googe, Sr. and the late Alma O'Berry Googe. He was a retired farmer and member of Philadelphia Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Gay Googe of Hazlehurst; Four Sons and Daughters-In-Law, Jimmy (Amy) Googe of Lumber City, Jerry (Joy) Googe, Jeffery (Ashley) Googe and Jake Googe and Katie, all of Hazlehurst; Two Sisters, Ruth Sanes of Mauk Ga., and Robbie Williams of Ormond Beach, FL.; Two Brothers, Thomas Googe of Stockbridge and Ralph Googe of Hazlehurst; 13 Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6-8PM at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 2:00PM at Philadelphia Methodist Church with Rev. David Griffin and Rev. Mike Sanes officiating. Interment will follow in Church Cemetery. Mr. Googe will lie in state one hour prior to service.
