Mr. James Edward Hughes, age 73, of Hazlehurst, died Saturday, January 15, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Hughes was born April 02, 1948 in Jeff Davis County.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie Hughes and Lenora Hand Hughes, and his wife, Melba Hughes.

He was disabled and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, chewing tobacco, and watching movies. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James "Buddy" and Angel Hughes; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Mike Hutchinson and Christy Lynn and Trent Thrift; brother, David Hughes; sisters, Shirley Lovett, Knellie Browing and Willene "Bean" Lovett; girlfriend, Lucille Brown; grandchildren, Michael G. Hutchinson Jr., Tyler B. Hutchinson, Ryan J. Hutchinson, Sabrina Turner, Gabriel T. Thrift, Zoey K. Thrift, Lily P. Thrift and Wyat A. Thrift; great grandchildren, Hailey Turner, Sarah Turner, Mason Turner and Peyton Charity Hutchinson; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home at 11:00am with Rev. Church Morgan officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be James "Buddy" Hughes, Trent Thrift and Mike Hutchinson.
