James W. Rowell, age 74, of Baxley, died Friday, April 12, 2019 at Jeff Davis Hospital. Mr. Rowell was born March 19, 1945 in Jeff Davis County to the late J.W. Rowell and the late Sadie McNeal Rowell. He was retired from Hazlehurst Mills. Survivors include his wife Joan Yawn Rowell of Baxley; two sons, Gary Rowell of Hazlehurst and Tracy Rowell of Hazlehurst; sister, Sarah Jackson of Hazlehurst; four grandchildren, Blakelyn Rowell, Karleigh Rowell, Jake Rowell and Aspen Stallings; several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 15, 2019 at 3:00pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wigley and Mr. Billy Yawn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Rowell will lie in state one hour prior to service.
