Janie Carter Ray, age 67, of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, October 24, 2019 at her residence.

Mrs. Ray was born August 10, 1952 in Jeff Davis County to the late Ira Carter and the late Lucille Duncan Carter.

She was retired from Hazlehurst Mills and a retired Registered Nurse from Appling Healthcare. She is preceded in death by her siblings, James Carter, Haven Gehlken, Elton "Blue" Carter, Robert Carter and Nelda Carter.

Survivors include two daughters, Crystal Selina Cook (Glenn) and Freedom Angelita Ray; two sons, Danny Earl Ray (Tonia) and Dusty Cruz Villalba (Jessica); sister, Vonnie Nell Carter Copeland; brother, Larry (Bo-Pete) Carter (Belinda); nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held Friday evening at 6:00-8:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10:00am in the Chapel of Wainright Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Patrick officiating.
