J.D. Jones, Jr., age 72, of Hazlehurst, formerly of Lumber City, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 in Community Hospice House in Vidalia. Mr. Jones was born July 18, 1941 in Telfair County to the late James Dewey Jones, Sr and the late Annie Louise Bennett Jones. He was formerly employed with Jeff Davis Auto Parts and was a member of the Lumber City United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Edna Ussery Jones of Hazlehurst; Three Sons, Gary and Rhonda Jones of Hazlehurst, Darrell and Ginger Jones of Helena and Michael and Janet Jones of McRae; Three Sisters, Annie Ruth Herndon of Naples, FL., Betty Brown and Bennie Stapleton both of Lumber City; Six Grandchildren, Eight Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 2:00pm at Lumber City United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Jones and Rev. Glynn Hancock officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Jones will lie in state 1 hour prior to service time.
