Mrs. Joanne Akins Lewis, age 64, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at her residence.

Joanne was born August 15, 1955 to the late Robert Russell Akins and the late Anna Gertrude Akins. She was formerly employed with Wayne County Board of Education as an English Teacher and was a member of the Bridgeford Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Arlee Lewis of Hazlehurst;

daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Chris Watts of Hazlehurst; brothers, Wesley (Barbara) Akins of Warner Robins, Larry (Kim) Akins of Gloucester, Virginia and Tyler (Elaine) Akins of Powder Springs; sister, Karen Hopkins (Denford) Phillips of Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren, Coley Watts and Danyel Watts of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 29, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Bridgeford Church of God Cemetery with Rev.     Jaime Rivera, Rev. Richard Lewis and Rev. Jeremy Deloach officiating.

Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Joanne Akins Lewis, age 64, of Hazlehurst.
