Mr. John M. Newman, age 89, of Snipesville, died Thursday, December 12, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Newman was born August 30, 1930 in Jeff Davis County to the late Elias Newman and the late Marie Smith Newman. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, Korean Conflict, a retired Owner and Operator of Newman Logging and a faithful member of Macedonia Church of God. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Melaine Newman Simmons.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Carolyn Anderson Newman of Snipesville; son and daughter-n-law, Clay M. and Johnsie C. Newman of DeLeon Springs, FL; sisters, Jean Carolyn Steptoe of Snipesville and Lurine Kirkland of Jonesboro; two brothers, Donnie C. (Betty) Newman of Snipesville and Garry L. (Sue) Newman of Snipesville; Grandchildren, John Casey Newman (Kayle), Rachael Morgan Newman and Sarah Caroline Simmons         Mikell; Great-grandson, Carter Newman; several nieces and nephews also survived.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11:00am at Macedonia Church of God with Rev. Van McCall,                          Rev. Robert E. Varnadore and Rev. Grey H. Roberson officiating.

Interment will follow in Palms Memorial Cemetery.
