Josephine Chavis Carey, age 68, of Hazlehurst, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. Mrs. Carey was born December 20, 1944 in Jeff Davis County to the late George Lee Chavis and the late Wilma Hughes Carelock. She was retired from Hazlehurst Manufacturing and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Survivors include two Daughters, Karen Purvis of Uvalda and Denise Scannelli of Medford Mass.; two Grandchildren, Heather McGraw and Joey Purvis; Sister Doris Coleman of Baxley. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00PM at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements for Josephine Chavis Carey, age 68, of Uvalda, are under the direction of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.
