Mrs. Laney Thompson Prescott, age 77, of Lumber City, died Thursday, October 08, 2015 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. Mrs. Prescott was born November 07, 1937 in Jeff Davis County to the late Thelma Ellis Rentz. She was a retired Shoe Store Operator and member of the First United Methodist Church of Lumber City. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Joseph F. Prescott Sr. Survivors include her Daughter, Sylvia Ray of Lizella, Ga.; Sons, Glenn Thompson of Sylvania and Byron Thompson of Statesboro; Sister, Mary Ferguson of Pfafftown, North Carolina; Five Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren and her beloved companion Dooley. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held, Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Lumber City with Rev. Merle Webster and Rev. Ben DeFore officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Prescott will lie in state one hour prior to services. Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Laney Thompson Prescott, age 77, of Hazlehurst.
