Lawahna K
Reynolds
May 5, 1953 — Jul 20, 2025
LaWahna "Lou" (Smith) Reynolds, of Lake Sinclair, GA, passed away on July 20, 2025, at Pruitt Health, Aiken, SC, at the age of 72, following an extended illness.
LaWahna Kay "Lou" Smith Reynolds was born in Macon, GA, on May 5, 1953, to Douglas Talmadge and Lois (Adkins) Smith. LaWahna attended school in Bibb County and graduated with the Margaret McEvoy High School Class of 1971. She then graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1975 with a master's degree in teaching and eventually retired after 32 years, having taught four years in South Carolina and 28 in Georgia Public Schools. She had spent most of her years teaching English and Art at Glenn Hills High School. She was a member of Big Stevens Creek Baptist Church in North Augusta, SC, and later attended church in Milledgeville, GA. LaWahna was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Ryan Newman; she was very creative, and enjoyed painting, drawing, and gardening. She definitely had a "green thumb"; her garden was overflowing with vibrant flowers and flourishing vegetables.
LaWahna and her family lived many years in North Augusta, SC, but she enjoyed special trips to Lake Sinclair, her second home, and eventually retired there.
LaWahna was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 41 years, Larry Reynolds, and her nephew, Brian Reynolds.
LaWahna is survived by her sons Thomas Jedidiah Reynolds, her caregiver, of North Augusta, SC, and Jared (Lydia) Reynolds of Statesboro, GA. She was the proud "Mou" to 3 granddaughters: Rylie Rene Eash of Mesa, AZ, Ava Grace Reynolds of Augusta, GA, and Laila Kae Reynolds of Augusta, GA. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Wanda (Jerry) Rowland, Jimmy (Debra) Reynolds, and Stanley (Ann) Reynolds, all of Hazlehurst, GA. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the church ministry of your choice.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
