Magalene S. Evans, age 88, of Hazlehurst, passed away February 08, 2015, after an extended illness, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia. Ms. Evans was born January 10, 1927 in Clinch County. She was preceded in death by her Parents, A. John Smith and Mattie Julia Ingram Smith, two Brothers, George Smith and James Smith of Homerville. She was the widow of the late William Lee (W.L.) Evans Sr. of Hazlehurst. Ms. Evans was a graduate of Clinch County High School and a retired Seamstress of Ero Manufactors and Hazlehurst Mills. She was a member of the Helping Hands Sunday School Class and Southside Baptist Church and an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years. Survivors include a Daughter and Son-in-Law, Linda Sandiford Jones and B.J. Jones; Step-son, William Lee (Billy)Evans and wife Linda; Granddaughter, Sheryl Jones Disharoon and Husband Jimmy Disharoon; Grandson, Allen Jones and wife Lisa Jones; two Step-Granddaughters Angie and Christy Evans of Smyrna; Four Great- Grandsons, Spencer Disharoon, Wade Jones, Mitchell Jones and Kegan Disharoon all of Hazlehurst. A special cousin, Mary Smith of Homerville and several other cousins, nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 2:00pm at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Brazelle and Rev. Stan Clough officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery. Ms. Evans will lie in state one hour prior to service. The family may be contacted at the residence, 87 W. Coffee Street, Hazlehurst.
