Mrs. Marell Rentz Carter, age 84, of Hazlehurst, died Sunday, January 26, 2020, at her son's residence.

Mrs. Carter was born October 06, 1935 in Jeff Davis County to the late Joe Marvin Scott Rentz and the late Pauline McNeal Rentz. She was a Homemaker and a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 58 years, Eugene Carter, daughter-in-law, Shae Carter, siblings, Marvie Rentz, Joe Rentz, Felton Rentz, and Shorty Rentz.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, James Carter of Hazlehurst and David and Gayle Carter of Hazlehurst; sisters, Mary Catherine Clark of Uvalda, Margaret Herrington of Baxley, Martha Lolley and Helen Padgett both of Hazlehurst; three grandchildren, Deidra (Josh) Higgins, Scott (Erin) Carter and Shannon Carter (John Smith) all of Hazlehurst; great-grandchildren, Trent Tanner, Alyssa Tanner of Hazlehurst, Jaxton Higgins of Hazlehurst, Logan Higgins, Laini Higgins, and Landon Higgins all of Atlanta, Grayson Carter and Peyton Carter of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews also survived.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Mt Zion Baptist Church, visitation will begin at 1:30pm and funeral service will follow at 3:00pm with Rev. Robert Wigley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
