Marilyn Bailey Rowell, age 84, of Hazlehurst, died Friday, April 21, 2017. Mrs. Rowell was born in Jeff Davis County to the late J.W.S. Bailey Sr. and the late Lillie Stone Bailey. She was a Bailiff with the Jeff Davis County Court System and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Rowell, sisters, Estelle Harris and Ouida Ogilvie and brother J.W.S. Bailey Jr. Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Phil Merritt and Bonita R. and Rod Waites; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Debbie Underwood; grandchildren, Carla Merritt Coleman, Maria Merritt Rea, Lindsey Merritt Bookhardt, Morgan Castleberry, Chad Underwood and Josh Underwood; nieces, Sara Jo Thomas and Mary Nester; and blessed with several great-grandchildren, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 23, 2017 at First United Methodist Church at 3:00pm with Rev. Josh Duckworth and Rev. Jeffery Spell officiating. Interment will follow in the Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery. The family may be contacted at the residence, 17 Rose Avenue, Hazlehurst.
