Mary Helen Hawkins Gay, age 69, of Hazlehurst, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Mrs. Gay was born April 30, 1944 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late Charlie Roscoe Hawkins and the late Dollie Ellen Turner Hawkins. She was a life long resident of Jeff Davis County, a Homemaker and member of Southside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Watson Gay, Jr. and daughter, Billie Ann Hawkins. Survivors include Daughters and Sons-In-Law, Laura (Darren) McDaniel and Sherry (Mitchell) Reagin; Son, Jamie Gay all of Hazlehurst; Sister, Barbara Sikes of Hazlehurst; Brothers, Charlie Hawkins of Jacksonville, FL. and Billy Hawkins of Hazlehurst; Eight Grandchildren, 1 Great-Grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 24, 2013 at 2:00pm at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Ben Glosson and Rev. Ray Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to Southern Care Hospice.
