Obituary

Mary Nell Adams Hays, age 97, of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Community Hospice House in Vidalia. Mrs. Hays was born March 11, 1916 in Walton County and was the daughter of the late Joseph Preston Adams and the late Lena Tunnison Adams. She attended Walton County Schools and graduated from the University of Georgia and received a Masters degree in Education. She worked as a Social Worker, Sunday School Teacher, High School Teacher and Guidance Counselor with Jeff Davis High School and then retired in 1972. She was the oldest active member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hays was the widow of the late William Alton Hays and was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Adams Bryant and Son-In-Law, Danny Richardson. Survivors include two Sons and Daughters-In-Law, Dr. W.A. and Sylvia Hays, Jr. of Athens and Preston Adams and Sherry Hays of North Carolina; two Daughters and Son-In-Law, Anne and Richard Dennard of Fortson and Mary Richardson of Vidalia; seven Grandchildren and ten Great-Grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 2:00pm at Hazlehurst City Cemetery with Rev. Bill Vansant officiating. Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Mary Nell Adams Hays, age 97, of Hazlehurst are under the direction of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.
