Mrs. Melba Clark Martin, age 84, of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Jeff Davis Hospital. Mrs. Martin was born June 17, 1933 in Appling County to the late Jim Clark and the late Bertie Igou Clark. Mrs. Martin was previously employed with Jeff Davis Hospital and Jeff Davis School System. She is preceded in death by her husband, Merle Martin and daughter, Linda Walls. Survivors include daughter, Beverly Varnadore (Ronnie) of Hazlehurst; son, Gary Covington Sr. (Willene) of Hazlehurst; sister, Wilma Clark Hall of Baxley; grandchildren, Pam Dukes (Bobby), Stephen McDaniel, Pepper Thomas (Frank),Chris Keaver, Angel Smith, Keisha Richards (Adam), Gary Covington Jr. (Jessica), Tori Branch (Jared); twenty six great grandchildren who includes, Stephanie McDaniel, Katlyn McDaniel and Stephen McDaniel Jr., Stephen is proudly serving in the United States Marines; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the Zoar Cemetery.
