Michael Kenneth Owings, age 59, of Hazlehurst, died Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Jeff Davis Hospital. Mr. Owings was born January 21, 1956 in Jeff Davis County. He was formerly employed as an Auto Technician with Woody Folsom Chevrolet and a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his Father, Irvin Lawrence Owings, Sister, Nancy Dykes and Brother, Harry Owings. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Joiner Owings of Hazlehurst; Daughter, Sarah Pierce of Hazlehurst; Son, Michael K. Owings, Jr. of Hazlehurst; Two Grandchildren, Rayleigh Pierce and Aidan Owings; Mother, Vanell Buckins Owings of Hazlehurst; Three Sisters, Lanell McKiney and Carolyn Courson of Hazlehurst and Sharon Smith of Statesboro; Brothers, Johnny Owings, David Owings and Ralph Owings all of Hazlehurst and Raymond Wheeler of Baxley; several nieces and nephews also survived. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the family, Cynthia Owings, 180 S. Cromartie Street, Hazlehurst. Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Michael Kenneth Owings.
