Mr. Mitchell Benjamin Gillis, age 55, of Wheatland, Wyoming passed away at his home after a life long battle with Diabetes. Mr. Gillis, the son of the late Lester and Betty Jean Gillis, was a native of Jeff Davis County, and resided in Wheatland, Wyoming. Mitchell was preceded in death by brother, Lee Malcolm Gillis, Sr.; sister, Jeannine Gillis; aunt and uncle; Joe and Margaret Frazier, and cousin; Jimmy Frazier. Mitchell graduated from Georgia Southern College in 1985 with a degree in chemistry. He was passionate about his work in the electric power industry in which his career spanned over a period of 33 years. Mitchell worked at Edwin I Hatch Nuclear Plant in Baxley, GA., Tennessee Valley Authority in Muschel Shoals, AL, Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Athens, AL., and Laramie River Basin Power Plant in Wheatland, Wyoming. He had a love for electronics, technology, and how they worked, and enjoyed working in carpentry in his spare time. He, also, enjoyed acting with the Platte County Players, and the Casper Theater Company. He leaves behind a son, Matthew Benjamin Gillis of St. Simons Island; nephew, Lee Malcolm Gillis, Jr., and wife Lori; great-nephew, Mack; great niece, Lucy all of Macon. Remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Association. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
