Mr. Vernon Lewis, age 90, of Hazlehurst, died Sunday, January 01, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare in Hazlehurst. Mr. Lewis was born May 06, 1926 in Jeff Davis County to the late Austin Calvin Lewis, Sr. and the late Hattie Herrington Lewis. He was retired from the Jeff Davis County Road Dept. and a member of the Bridgeford Church of God. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Gail Lewis. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Bryant Lewis of Hazlehurst; son and daughter-in-law, Vernon Terry (Sandy) Lewis Jr. of Texas; grandson, Terry Lewis of Texas; several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 04, 2017 at Bridgeford Church of God, visitation starting at 1:00pm and Funeral Services following at 2:00pm with Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Vernon Lewis, age 90, of Hazlehurst.
