Mr. Murphy Roy Varnadoe, age 76, of Lumber City, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Varnadore was born July 27 1941 in Museagee County to the late Edward Sanders Varnadoe and the late Ruth Yearty Varnadoe. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, retired from Norfolk Southern Railway and member of Lumber City Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his son, Greg Varnadoe, daughter, Angie Sellers, brother, Richard Edward Varnadoe, sister, Ruth Wylene Varnadoe Howard. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Thompson Varnadoe of Lumber City; daughters, Lisa Varnadoe Donaldson (Kent) of Warner Robins and Denise Thompson (Chuck) of Hazlehurst; son, James D. Smith of Hazlehurst; brother, Larry Varnadoe (Janice) of Kathleen; grandchildren, Brandon Donaldson of Warner Robins, Dustin Thompson of Hazlehurst, Ashlie Sellers of Hazlehurst, Meygan Thompson of Hawaii; Great-grandchildren, Emorie Sellers of Hazlehurst and Lakeynn and Kason of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Mr. Varnadoe will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service to lie in state. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 3:00pm in the Lumber City Baptist Church with Rev. Ashley Tyree officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. The family may be contacted at the residence, 341 Shelton Chapel Road, Lumber City.
