Raymond Allen Hancock, age 79, of Hazlehurst, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

He was born on June 9, 1947, in Macon, Georgia to the late Allen Hancock and Mae Evelyn Standridge Hancock. He was a veteran and proudly served as part of the Big Red One in Vietnam. He was married to the love of his life, Pauline, for 59 years. He loved her faithfully and wholeheartedly.

He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time at the pond with his wife. He enjoyed being surrounded by his big family and was so proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was devoted to serving the Lord and loved his church and his church family. He had a true servant’s heart.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Charles Hancock; and two sisters, Helen Brearly, and Beatrice Peavey.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Pauline Hancock of Hazlehurst; his daughters, Lori (Eric) Hooks of Hazlehurst, Kim (David) Harvey of Vidalia; his brothers, Tommy (Gail) Hancock of Kissimmee, FL, and Brian (Theresa) Hancock of Cedar Key, FL; his sister, Barbara Howe of Kissimmee, FL; his grandchildren, Allen (Hailey) Hooks of Brunswick, Tabitha (Brian) Reagin of Hazlehurst, McKinley (Carson) Williams of Hazlehurst, Bobby (Brianna) Harvey of Hazlehurst, Austin (Breanna) Harvey of Hazlehurst; and great grandchildren, Isla Hooks, Briley Reagin, Emma Reagin, Delanie Williams, Landon Walden, Aiden Harvey, Noah Harvey, LuLu Harvey, Dalson Plante, Sadie Plante, and Addie Plante; and a special Aunt Dorothy Lanier & family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Manford Gilbert, Rev. Al Stanley, and Rev. Brian Patrick officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Jeff Davis County Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until just prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Wooditch, Cody NeeSmith, Wayne Relstab, Justin Collins, Caleb Gilbert, and John Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Colan Claxton, Freeman Hill, J.C. Carter, and Mike Moore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
