Obituary

Robert J. Maloit, age 98, of Hazlehurst, died Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. Mr. Maloit was born May 2, 1916 in Tucson AZ to the late Frank J. Maloit and the late Pearl Keeler Maloit. He was raised in the Rocky Mountain mining town of Gilman, Colorado and was a graduate of Colorado School of Mines class of 1938 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Certification as a professional Engineer. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Reserve and served during World War II in the Army Civil Engineering Corps participating in the preparation for and execution of the crossing of the Rhine River by Allied Forces. He retired from the Army Reserve in 1958 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the war he went to work with the United States Steel Corporation in a variety of Engineering positions culminating with his assignment as Plant Manager at the Amercord Plant in Lumber City, Georgia. He and his wife Agatha Ann moved to Hazlehurst in 1973 to take the position at Amercord. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Agatha Ann Maloit, wife, Patricia Beck Maloit and daughter, Mary Frances Ramsey. Survivors include Two Sons and Daughters-In-Law, Robert J. and Barbara Maloit and Frank M. and Barbara Maloit; Grandchildren, Shanna (Fraser) Townley-Maloit, Daniel (Danielle)Maloit, Patrick Maloit, and Kenneth (Kim) Maloit; Son-In-Law, Barry Ramsey and Seven Great-Grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 09, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Raphael Estrada officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery. Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Robert J. Maloit, age 98, of Hazlehurst.
