Ronald M. Dixon, age 69, of Hazlehurst, died Friday, January 24, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Dixon was born November 19, 1944 in Jeff Davis County to the late John Dixon and the late Birdie Mae Simmons Dixon. He attended South Georgia College, Brewton Parker College and Georgia Southern receiving his Six Year Degree in Educational Specialist in Administration, he also received in 1999 the School of Excellence Award for Jeff Davis High School. He was retired from the Jeff Davis Board of Education where he served as High School Teacher and Principal for almost 40 years. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his brother, Gereall Dixon. Survivors include his wife, Patia Ann Jones Dixon of Hazlehurst, Daughter and Son-In-Law, Cari D. (Michael) Creamer of Hazlehurst; Son and Daughter-In-Law, Niles C. (Christy) Dixon of Hazlehurst; Sister, Evelyn Beecher of Hazlehurst; Brother, Harry Dixon of Hazlehurst; Five Grandchildren, Lauren Dixon, Ethan Dixon, Gavin Creamer, Bradley Creamer, Bella Creamer and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4-6:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 27, 2014 at Southside Baptist Church at 4:00pm with Rev. Niles C. Dixon, Mr. Michael Creamer and Dr. Ben Glosson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Dixon will lie in state 1 hour prior to service time.
