Mr. Roy Hugh Gillis, age 65, of Hazlehurst, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Jeff Davis Hospital. Mr. Gillis was born March 31, 1950 in Telfair County to the late John Franklin Gillis and the late Ruby Inez Rogers Gillis. He was employed with Jeff Davis County Board of Education in the Maintenance Department and was a member of Hazlehurst Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Diane Smith Gillis of Hazlehurst; Three sisters, Judy (Wes) German of Fayetteville, Joy (Larry) Ricks of McRae and Wilma (Charles) Conner of McRae; Two brothers, Jerry (Juanita) Gillis of Snellville and Tim Gillis of McRae; several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be held Friday from 12:00-2:00pm at Hazlehurst Church of God. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 at 2:00pm at Hazlehurst Church of God with Rev. Nathan Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery. The family may be contacted at the residence, 142 Burketts Ferry Road, Hazlehurst.
