Shelba Joy Jernigan Stone, age 86, of North Augusta, South Carolina, formerly of Hazlehurst, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church in North Augusta. Shelba was born in Appling County on December 26, 1936, to the late Roby H. and Marie N. Jernigan. She was a beautician for many years in Hazlehurst. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Stone and her sister, Sarah Williams.
Survivors include her sons, Michael L. (Lesa) and Romie E. (Annelle) Stone, of North Augusta, South Carolina; one sister, Linda J. Gillespie , of North Augusta, South Carolina, three brothers, Charles Jernigan, of North Augusta, South Carolina, Handy Jernigan of Brunswick, Georgia, and Danny Jernigan of North Augusta, South Carolina, six grandchildren, Allen Stone (SoYoung), Pam Ramsey (Todd), Leigh Ryan (Zeb), Brad Stone (Trisha), Brandon Stone (Melissa) and Brittany Trahan (Daniel); fifteen great-grandchildren, Karli, Jordan (Katie), Noah, Gunner, Preslee, Sydney, Jacob, Blaine, Gracie, Allie, Blake, Lacon, Emma, Anna, and Summer; two great-great-grandchildren, Beckett and Jane; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shelba lived in Hazlehurst and Graham, Georgia, before making North Augusta her home for the last 27 years. She was a devoted Christian lady having taught Sunday School for many years. Her love for God and her family was evident to all who knew her. She enjoyed playing the piano, painting, and traveling to the mountains.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 08, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Graham United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Paul Noe and Jordan Trahan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the Graham United Methodist Church or Sweetwater Baptist Church.
The Stone Family and Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to continue to follow social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
