Mrs. Shirley Pennington, formerly of Hazlehurst, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2019.

She was a native of Charleston, West Virginia but had resided in Hazlehurst for a number of years. She was an active member of Southside Baptist Church where she served in many areas of the church.

She had 23 years of service in the public schools in Jeff Davis County and was the widow of Bobby Pennington.

She is survived by two daughters, Sonya Kirkham and Michele Pennington of Lafayette, IN; two grandchildren, Preston Kirkham of Plano, TX and Stacia Peters of Romney, IN; she was blessed with five great-grandson's, Samuel, Joshua, Mason, Max and Jacob;   several nieces and nephews also survived.

Other surviving family members are four brothers in West Virginia and one sister in Arkansas.

She will be greatly missed.

Graveside Services will be held Monday, November 25, 2019 at 1:00pm in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Wigley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gideons International, Jeff Davis Gideons, P. O. Box 1656, Hazlehurst, Ga. 31539.
