Mrs. Shirley Selph Wood, age 82, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Wood was born October 28, 1936 in Jeff Davis County to the late Freeman Selph and the late Della McDonald Selph. She was previously employed with BC Moore's and a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Billy Wood and grandsons, Tyler Carter and Billy Lee Maddox, son-in-law, Sam Foskey, siblings, Eva Richmond, Maude Bourgoin, Net Hamilton, Grady, Tommy, S.T. and Johnny Selph. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Carter of Hazlehurst, Patricia Foskey of Hazlehurst and Brenda Maddox (Tommy) of Hazlehurst; son, Marshall Wood (Josie) of Hazlehurst; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survived. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:000pm at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Yawn and Mr. Jimmie Ryles officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery. Mrs. Wood will lie in state one hour prior to service.
