Mr. Silas Worth, age 78, of Hazlehurst passed away Wednesday morning in Vidalia after an extended illness. Mr. Worth was born in Bullock County, and was a resident of Jeff Davis County most of his life. He was the son of the late Wilson Worth, and Nancy Pritchett Worth. Mr. Worth was a member and deacon of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, and was owner and operator of Silas Worth Monument Company for 38 years. Mr. Worth was preceded in death by son, Terry Worth, 3 grandchildren, Ashley Worth, Gracie Worth, and Victoria Worth. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Wanda Turner Worth of Hazlehurst; four sons, Victor (Sherry M) Worth, Perry (Sherry D.) Worth, Scott (Donna) Worth, and Bruce Worth all of Hazlehurst; two sisters, Betty Johns, and Martha Yawn both of Hazlehurst; two brothers, Paul Worth, and John Worth both of Hazlehurst; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews . The family may be contacted at the family residence at 140 Bill Quarterman Rd., Hazlehurst. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Yawn, and the Rev. Harold Evans officiating. Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Silas Worth, age 78, of Hazlehurst.
