Ms. Thelma Hughes Simmons, age 94, of Hazlehurst, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at her residence. Ms. Simmons was born July 04, 1923 in Jeff Davis County to the late Arthur Hughes and the late Claudia Lewis Hughes. She was a Homemaker and member of New Beulah Primitive Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Simmons, son, Arthur Lloyd Simmons and son-in-law, Crandall Ussery Survivors include three daughters, Connie Simmons of Hazlehurst, Elaine Howell (Ronnie) of Danville and Lucy Ussery of Hazlehurst; five grandchildren, Daniel Ussery of Charlotte NC, Erin Mills (Brad) of August Ga., David Ussery (Bailee) of Augusta Ga., Caleb Howell (Amanda) of Cochran Ga. and Vins Howell (Samantha) of Cochran Ga.; eight great-grandchildren, Zeke Mills, Gideon Mills, Benjamin Mills, Elias Howell, Amelia Howell, Elsie Howell, Sylvie Howell and Boone Howell. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 at 3:00pm at New Beulah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Bill Torrance and Elder J.E. Griffis officiating. Interment will follow in the Satilla Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Ms. Thelma Hughes Simmons, age 94, of Hazlehurst.
