Ms. Vessie Lou Yawn, age 85, of Hazlehurst, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at her daughter's residence. Ms. Yawn was born October 02, 1931 in Jeff Davis County to the late Jacob Clinton Clements and the late Eva Grim Clements. She was retired from Jeff Davis Elementary School Food Program and member of Oakland Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Yawn, daughter, Diane Cravey, and granddaughter, Lindsey Sharpe. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jr. Sharpe of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Deidre and Brent Pfeiffer of Sumter, SC and Travis Sharpe of Hazlehurst; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Sharpe and Zoey Pfeiffer. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 03, 2017 at 11:00am at Oakland Baptist Church with Rev. Royce Hulett and Rev. Joey Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in the Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery. Ms. Yawn will lie in state one hour prior to service.
