Mr. William V. "Bill" Prince, age 75, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
Mr. Prince was born October 20, 1945 in Valdosta, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Maurice Prince, Sr. and Doris Townsend Ranew and a brother, Jack Maurice Prince, Jr. He has made his home in Hazlehurst for the past eight years, having come from Walton County. He was a member of First Baptist Church- Hazlehurst and Mensa International, a High IQ Society and the Jeff Davis Veterans Association. Before becoming an ordained minister, he was an active and faithful member of The Gideons International. He formerly served as President of Council of Georgia Baptist Evangelist (COGBE) and also served on the Board of Directors of Council of Southern Baptist Evangelists (COSBE). He served two terms on the Southern Baptist Executive Committee. He was an avid hunter and loved going fishing on the Georgia rivers, but his greatest love was his family, whom he adored.
He was survived by his wife, Jo Prince of Hazlehurst, three children, Cheryl (Brad) Waters of Hazlehurst, Jan (Randy) Prickett of Evans and William Jack (Leah) Prince of Oxford, two brothers, Rhett Prince of Snellville and Butch Ranew of Colona, Illinois, a sister, Dotty DeFreest of Barnwell, SC, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Palms Memorial Gardens with Rev. Brad Waters and Rev. Philip Worthington officiating.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Waters, Willy Waters, John Wesley Waters, Cameron May, Logan May, Hunter Prince and Randy Prickett.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions, in memory of Mr. Prince, be made to Jeff Davis Gideons, PO Box 1656, Hazlehurst, Georgia 31539 or to First Baptist Church-Hazlehurst Building Fund, 30 Tallahassee Street, Hazlehurst, Georgia 31539
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Prince family and Wainright Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to wear a mask and follow the social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
